Note

Both males and females can apply for the GD constable exam.

Age Limit (18 – 23 Years)

The age limit for the general category is 18 to 23 years.
Only people born between 02-jan-2002 and 1-1-2007 can apply in the general category.
Age Relaxation details for other categories are given later in this article.

Education (10th pass)

The minimum educational qualification for the constable GD exam is 10th / matric pass.
No percentage constraint.
People with higher qualifications are also eligible.

Nationality – Only Indian Citizens

Only Indian citizens can apply.
Candidates must have domicile / PRC.
People from any state of India can apply.

Physical Eligibility

SSC GD eligibility criteria are very strict, especially physical eligibility. Lots of applicants are disqualified because they do not meet the minimum physical requirements.

The chest must increase at least +5 cm after expansion.

Note

Participants must not be overweight or underweight. Weight qualification will be decided according to the height and age rules.

Medical Eligibility

Medical fitness is one of the most important aspects of SSC GD eligibility as general duty constable job require lots of physical tasks, therefore, the personnel must be medically fit.

The applicant must be free from any kind of disease that could potentially hinder him/her in performing duty.
Disability of any kind is not allowed.
All shortlisted candidates will have to go through various tests like X-ray, Haemoglobin test, Urine(routine/microscopic) test, etc.

SSC GD Eligibility – FAQ’s

What is the maximum age limit to apply for SSC GD?

The upper age limit for the general category is 23 years. Relaxation of 3 years and 5 years is given to OBC, SC/ST categories respectively.

Can girls apply for constable GD?

Yes, both male and female who satisfy all eligibility criteria can apply for this job.

Is there a relaxation in height for the OBC category?

No, category-wise relaxation is only given to the ST category. For other categories the minimum height requirement is the same.

How much weight is required for SSC GD?

There are no fixed numbers for weight qualification. A candidate must not be over or underweight after applying the height and age rule. Basically, your BMI (Body Mass Index) should be normal. There are various tools over the internet to calculate BMI.
