Both males and females can apply for the GD constable exam.

Age Limit (18 – 23 Years)


  • The age limit for the general category is 18 to 23 years.
  • Only people born between 02-jan-2002 and 1-1-2007 can apply in the general category.
  • Age Relaxation details for other categories are given later in this article.

Education (10th pass)


  • The minimum educational qualification for the constable GD exam is 10th / matric pass.
  • No percentage constraint.
  • People with higher qualifications are also eligible.

Nationality – Only Indian Citizens


  • Only Indian citizens can apply.
  • Candidates must have domicile / PRC.
  • People from any state of India can apply.

Medical Eligibility

Medical fitness is one of the most important aspects of SSC GD eligibility as general duty constable job require lots of physical tasks, therefore, the personnel must be medically fit.

  • The applicant must be free from any kind of disease that could potentially hinder him/her in performing duty.
  • Disability of any kind is not allowed.
  • All shortlisted candidates will have to go through various tests like X-ray, Haemoglobin test, Urine(routine/microscopic) test, etc.
