The selection process of SSC GD is carried out in 3 main steps: CBE (computer based exam), PST/PET (physical standards test / physical efficiency test), document verification, and DME (detailed medical exam). All important details regarding all these steps are covered here.

SSC GD Selection Process
Though there are only 3 stages of selection, we will take a step-by-step approach to explain it for a deeper understanding.
Step 1
Online Application
- Starts from 27-Aug-2024
- Ends on 27-Sep-2024
Step 2
Admit Card for Online Exam
- The CBE or online exam admit card will be available 2 weeks before the written exam.
- Dates will be updated here when released.
Step 3
Online Exam
- Official name: CBE (computer-based exam).
- Will be held in the month of Jan or Feb.
- This is the most important step in the constable GD selection process as the final cutoff is decided based on marks scored in this exam.
Step 4
CBE Result
The result for CBE of GD is usually declared almost 2 months after the exam.
Step 5
Admit Card for Physical Exam
The admit card or admission certificate for the physical exam is provided 20-30 after the CBE result is declared.
Step 6
Physical Exam
- It is divided into two parts: PST & PET
- PST (physical standard test):
- Height, Weight, and chest are measured.
- Chest is only measured for males.
- PET (physical efficiency test):
- Participants have to clear the race.
- For males – 5 km in 24 minutes.
- For females – 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes.
- These tests are qualifying in nature. No marks are awarded for these tests.
- Both the tests are conducted on same day.
- Physical exam for SSC GD is conducted 1-2 months after the online exam.
Step 7
Admit Card for Medical Exam
The admit card for the medical exam of SSC GD is provided 10-15 days after the physical exam.
Step 8
Medical Exam
- This stage is also divided into 2 steps, MV and DME.
- Official name: DV (document verification)
- All original documents like passing certificate, domicile, etc. will be check in this stage.
- Official name DME (detailed medical exam)
- Candidates will be checked for any diseases and disabilities via various medical tests.
- Medical exam will be conducted 20-30 days after physical exam.
- This exam is also qualifying in nature.
Step 9
Final Cutoff
The final step of the SSC GD selection process is the announcement of the final cutoff.
- The final cutoff is declared 1-2 months after the medical exam.
- Only candidates who score marks above the declared cutoff are considered selected.
Step 10
Joining
- The joining letter will be provided when there is space in the training facility of the respective force for which the candidate is selected.
- If a candidate does not receive a call letter within 1 year of the declaration of the final result, then he/she should contact the respective organization.
